We just got back from a trip to the beach that didn’t go exactly as planned. Have you ever had a vacation like that? I’m guessing you have. Luckily we brought along a secret weapon that literally saved our sanity.

It’s no secret that we love LEGO. My five-year-old son asks for new LEGO sets for every birthday and Christmas and spends hours building and playing. When LEGO reached out to us to review their new LEGO JUNIORS Suitcases we jumped at the chance to enjoy a LEGO summer.

LEGO® JUNIORS is designed to give children age 4-7 a great first building experience with the LEGO brick through iconic, fun and easy to build models. The larger frames are already built in one piece so it’s easy for the child to finish building the set by themselves.

Our two LEGO JUNIORS Suitcases arrived just in time for our family beach camping trip. As a surprise for the kids, I packed their new LEGO sets just in case we had some down time during the beach trip. I am so glad I did! Our LEGO JUNIORS saved the day on more than one occasion.

LEGO Summer Vacation

When we arrived at the beach we were greeted with typical Pacific Northwest Coast weather: overcast, cold, and windy. After dinner the kids were frozen and done with blowing sand. They retreated to our tent around 6:30 for a few hours of unexpected “indoor” play among sleeping bags, pillows, and piles of blankets.

We pulled out our LEGO JUNIORS Suitcases and the kids got to work. They loved building and rebuilding their sets as much as they enjoyed playing with the finished products! It was so great to have a creative, engaging, educational activity for the kids to do when we found ourselves in unpleasant weather.

The next day was warmer and calmer. We spent several hours playing on the beach. However, by dinnertime the kids were tired and ready for a more relaxing and quiet activity. This time we pulled our LEGO JUNIORS sets out on our picnic table and the kids played while we prepared dinner.

We had an awesome visit to the beach. We were so grateful for our LEGO JUNIORS that kept the kids happy and occupied during the down times of our trip.

Why We Love LEGO JUNIORS

  • The suitcase comes with dividers so the kids can keep their pieces organized. I wasn’t even worried they would lose pieces among sleeping bags and pillows.
  • When open, the suitcase acts as a hard surface on which to build so the kids can literally build and play anywhere.
  • These sets are designed to provide just the right amount of challenge and creative play for young children. My five-year-old built his set easily by himself, but even my three-year-old learned to build her set by herself after we helped her do it the first few times. Not only does this give the kids self confidence, it also gives Mom and Dad a break!
